BLADE (BOXER)

R.I.P :: 28 JUNE 2009

Blade, the Boxer was rescued by Colossus Kennels about FOUR years ago. He was about 1.5 years old and weighed about just 25 pounds at that time. The construction of the kennel had just started. He was shy and scared initially but adapted very well in just a week's time. He was the infact the guardian of the Kennel construction. He used to supervise the work and knew whom to take to task. He knew who were contractors worker and who were daily wagers. He kept a sharp eyes on daily wage workers and made them do the work properly. If any worker got lazy or tried to escape work, he would jump on them and catch hold of the collar. It looks like that he came to us to get the kennel work completed. Today as the construction work is nearly done, he went off while asleep.

To give him company we rescued another boxer female DONNA, who was about five years. This was three years ago.She had a horrible life till that date. She had changed about seven owners by an age of five years as the puppies she gave birth were dead always. When she came to us, we got her examined and it was confirmed that she was suffering from Herpes Virus. So we got her spayed.

Blade and Donna shared a very comfortable bonding. Playing and sleeping together. She is shattered by his sudden demise. Blade died in sleep around 4 AM 28 June 2009.She was with him for 2 hours before we came to know when we went to open them in morning. When we entered the room she started shaking Blade to wake up to see that we had come. Tears were clearly rolling from her eyes. When Blade was being burried in the Kennel ground she entered the pit many times.

BLADE is being immensely missed by all of us. We had to raise his dry run area to more than ten feets as he would easily scale 9 feet wall. He was a very wonderful watch dog and had high energy level. He loved riding on bikes and drives in car. But never wanted to be taken out on leash. There are many memories of him that would always remind us of him.
